having both narathva (human-s aspects) and simhathva (lion-s aspects) —

narasimha —

the cruel hell —

He came as Narasimha —

the entities in this greatly sorrowful samsāram —

this entire world, which is like narakam (hell) —

calling out as narasimha! (who is present everywhere) —

at the gates of the seven types of hell —

for hell where there is no trace of joy —

breaking him, taking the form of narasimha (face of lion with body of human) —

the cruel hell —

even the most sinful persons who reside in kumbī naraka (a region in the hell which is gruesome) —

(with) hair in their head with very good fragrance, (and with their) —

he will protect us from entering hell which has yama as its l̤ord. —

one who protects (his followers) from coming to samsāram (materialistic realm) —

as soon as those in narakam (hell) heard those words —

sarvĕṣvaran is like the medicine which will cure the disease of the unavoidable samsāram (life in the materialistic realm) —

looked its greyed hair —

that is the distinguished —

 ŏh you who incarnated as nara and nārāyaṇa! —
