Praise Kaṇṇaṉ: There is No Naraka.

கண்ணனை ஏத்துக: நரகம் இல்லை

2274 கடிதுகொடுநரகம் பிற்காலுஞ்செய்கை *
கொடிதென்று அதுகூடாமுன்னம் * - வடிசங்கம்
கொண்டானைக் கூந்தல்வாய்கீண்டானை * கொங்கைநஞ்சு

Simple Translation

2274. Hell is cruel and if you collect bad karmā you will go to the most cruel of hells. Before any such terrible thing happens to you, worship without ceasing the lord with a conch in his hand who split open the mouth of the Asuran when he came as a bird and drank the milk of Putanā and killed her.

கொடு நரகம் — கொடிய நரகமானது; கடிது — கோரமானது; பிற்காலும் — அதற்குமேலும்; செய்கை — யமபடர்கள் செய்யும் வேதனைகள்; கொடிது என்று — மிகக் கொடியது என்று அறிந்து; அது கூடா முன்னம் — அது நேராதபடி; வடி சங்கம் — கூர்மையான சங்கை; கொண்டானை — கையிலே உடையவனும்; கூந்தல் வாய் — கேசியின் வாயை; கீண்டானை — கிழித்து ஒழித்தவனும்; கொங்கை நஞ்சு — பூதனையின் விஷத்தை; உண்டானை — உண்டவனுமான பெருமானை; உற்று ஏத்துமினோ — அடைந்து துதியுங்கள்

Detailed Explanation

Avatārikai

In this verse, the Āzhvār lovingly instructs us with a sense of urgency. Before we are ever subjected to the torments of the infernal realms, he implores us to seek refuge and worship Emperumān—the Supreme Lord whose sweetness (bhogyatā) is boundless and who is the unfailing vanquisher of all our spiritual and physical adversaries.
