 and pushing (into the fields) the pearls that are in the bamboo sticks that it pulls along with it, —

make me become subservient —

being plagued by sorrows —

if one should stay quietly —

who will experience sorrows? —

ithihāsas (epics) which came about to describe the old narrations —

killing those enemies (in the war) —

 resting —

ocean on which [you are] reclining —

would sleep —

prostrating before emperumān like a tree lies after being felled —

is desirable as the ultimate goal. —

should it not feel shy? —

not thinking of our suffering —

 to defeat pomegranate seeds —

its deep sorrow —

 the sins to be experienced and exhausted —

 where pearls etc originate —
