the lustrous ruby which is embedded on the radiant locks —

composed these hymns —

spread out like darkness —

or being in kshīrārṇavam (as vishṇu, who is the source of the incarnations) —

in the net of women with well spread locks of hair —

long hair of women —

dripping honey —

 well set in thiruviṇṇagar that is full of water bodies having waves, —

that which appears like a brightened radiance —

just the self (in the beginning), and then expanded as the whole world. —

thirumalai where there is plenty of water resource with splashing waves —

 ruling over the brahmāṇdam (universe of brahmā) which is surrounded by āvaraṇa jalam (layer of water). —

 that is surrounded by the gardens spread out expanding, and —

having expansive gardens —

one who is having vast fame —

reddish coloured divine feet which resemble a lotus with blossomed petals —

having the wealth of valour —

 to have the fire rise —

one who let it be known widely (through the ṣāsthram of astrology) —
