மனமே! காலத்தை வீணாக்காதே

895 வெள்ளநீர்பரந்துபாயும் விரிபொழிலரங்கந்தன்னுள் *
கள்வனார்கிடந்தவாறும் கமலநன்முகமும்கண்டும் *
உள்ளமே! வலியைபோலும் ஒருவனென்றுணரமாட்டாய் *
கள்ளமேகாதல்செய்து உன்கள்ளத்தேகழிக்கின் றாயே.

Simple Translation

895. I see his beautiful lotus face and I see how that thief who stole my heart rests on the Kaveri in Srirangam surrounded by a rising flood of water and flourishing with groves. O my heart, you are brave. You know he is the one you really love, but you love him secretly and spend your days without telling anyone.

vel̤l̤am nīr — kāvĕri with huge floods; parandhu pāyum — flowing on all sides; viri pozhil — having expansive gardens; arangam thannul̤ — inside the temple; kal̤vanār — azhagiya maṇavāl̤an [ṣrī ranganāthan] who steals (the hearts of his followers); kidandha āṛum — the way that he is sleeping; kamalam nal mugamum — divine, beautiful face like a lotus; kaṇdum — even after worshipping; ul̤l̤amĕ — ŏh, heart!; valiyai pŏlum — you are too hardened, it appears; oruvan enṛu — that he is incomparable; uṇara māttāy — you do not realise; kal̤l̤amĕ kādhal seydhu — faking your love (in emperumān related matter); un kal̤l̤aththĕ — in your falsified actions; kālaththaik kazhikkinṛāyĕ — you are wasting your time!

Detailed WBW explanation

vel̤l̤anīr parandhu pāyum – From the source at the Sahyādri hill where the Kāverī begins her journey, her sole intention is to reach Srīraṅgam. Expressing her deep desire, she flows forcefully in all directions, and no one can stop her by building a dam. As her longing to reach Srīraṅgam and worship the Lord there is endless, her flow is also continuous, without end.
