thār adhu

desire towards the divine thul̤asi

mū adi maṇ enakku thārāy enṛu vĕṇdi

asking him “ṅrant me three steps of land”

vaṇdu alambum thār alangal nīṇ mudiyān than peyarĕ kĕttirundhu

on hearing the divine names of emperumān who dons garland on his long crown, and on which beetles keep swarming

thār ār thada thŏl̤gal̤ ul̤ al̤avum kai nītti

getting the divine huge shoulders, which are adorned with a garland, to go right down to the bottom of the pot

than arul̤um āgamum thārānĕl

if he does not grant me his divine grace and his divine chest

iyal here means decorating, with, thār flower.

thunniya thāragaiyin pĕrol̤i sĕr āgāsam ennum

sky which is said to be lit up by the densely located stars.

a word, whether he will grant it or not (word which ī sent him [as a message through my mind])

sen kurinji thār ār naṛu māllai sāththaṛku

for ṣāsthā, another deity, who wears the fragrant flowers of kurinji (a hilly flower)

thār ār thada thŏl̤ thalai kālan pin pŏnāl̤

she went behind vathsarājan [her beloved] who has huge shoulders with garland decorating them, and who had his legs chained

thiru thuzhāy thār ārndha mārvan

ḍonning a garland of thiruththuzhāy (thul̤asi) on his chest, the l̤ord

māṝamum thārārŏ

would you not answer us at least?
