Simple Translation

2700. “I told my heart, ‘O heart, go to the sapphire-colored god and ask him if he will give me his thulasi garland. Speak to him when my enemies are not there— otherwise they will give me trouble. If he doesn’t answer you, just come back. ” But when I said that, my heart that went to him who has the dark color of the ocean did not come back and forgot me. 28

சீர் ஆர் திருத்துழாய் மாலை — சிறந்த துளசி மாலையை; நமக்கு அருளி — நமக்கு கருணை கூர்ந்து; தாரான் தரும் என்று — தருவனோ தரமாட்டானோ என்று; இரண்டத்தில் ஒன்று அதனை — இரண்டில் ஒன்றை; ஆரானும் — யாராவது அவனை; ஒன்னாதார் — விரும்பாதவர்கள்; கேளாமே சொன்னக்கால் — கேளாதபடி நீ சொன்னாயானால்; பணி கேட்டு — அவ்வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டு; ஆராயும் — அவனும் ஆராய்ந்து யோசிப்பான்; மேலும் — மேலும்; அது அன்று — எனக்குத் தெரியாது; எனிலும் — என்று மறுத்தாலும் சரி; போராது ஒழியாதே — நீ அங்கேயே தங்கிவிடாமல்; போந்திடு நீ — நீ உடனே வந்து சேர்ந்து விடு; என்றேற்கு — என்று சொன்னதும்; கார் ஆர் கடல் வண்ணன் — கடல் நிற மேக வண்ணன்; பின் போன — பக்கலிலே சென்ற; நெஞ்சமும் — என் மனமும்; வாராதே என்னை — திரும்பி வராமல் என்னை; மறந்தது தான் — மறந்து அங்கேயே தங்கிவிட்டன!; வல்வினையேன் — அந்தோ!

namakku arul̤i — showering his grace on us; sīr ār thiru thuzhāy mālai — distinguished thul̤asi garland; thārān tharum enṛu iraṇdaththil onṛadhanai — a word, whether he will grant it or not (word which ī sent him [as a message through my mind]); onnādhār ārānum kĕl̤āmĕ sonnakkāl — when you tell him [my words] without anyone, who is not favourable to him, listening; paṇi kĕttu — after hearing those words; ārāyumĕlum — whether he enquires (affectionately); adhu anṛu enilum — or he totally denies knowing about me; nī pŏrādhu ozhiyādhĕ pŏndhidu — come back here, soon, without staying there itself; enṛĕṛku — agreeing with my words; kār ār kadal vaṇṇan pin pŏna — one which went near the dark ocean complexioned [emperumān]; nenjamum — my mind; vārādhĕ — without any thought of returning; ennai maṛandhadhudhān — stayed there itself, forgetting me; val vinaiyĕn — ī, the heinous sinner; ūrār ugappadhĕ āyinĕn — ī was in ruins such that the world celebrated.
