கன்னியரையில்லாத காட்சியாள் * -

பொன் நகரம் செற்ற புரந்தரனோடு ஏர் ஒக்கும் *
மன்னவன் வாணன் அவுணர்க்கு வாள் வேந்தன் *
தன்னுடைய பாவை உலகத்துத் தன் ஒக்கும் *
கன்னியரை இல்லாத காட்சியாள் * 37
2747 cūzh kaṭalul̤
pŏṉ nakaram cĕṟṟa purantaraṉoṭu er ŏkkum *
maṉṉavaṉ vāṇaṉ avuṇarkku vāl̤ ventaṉ *
taṉṉuṭaiya pāvai ulakattut taṉ ŏkkum *
kaṉṉiyarai illāta kāṭciyāl̤ * 37

Simple Translation

2747. Vānan, the king of the Asurans with a shining sword ruled a golden country that was like Indra’s world and conquered the whole earth surrounded by the oceans. His daughter Usha, was more beautiful than any other woman. (37)

சூழ் கடலுள் — பரந்த கடலினுள்ளே; பொன் — இரண்யாஸுரனுடைய; நகரம் — நகரங்களை; செற்ற — அழித்தவனும்; புரந்தரனோடு — தேவேந்திரனோடு ஒத்த; ஏர் ஒக்கும் — செல்வ முடையனும்; மன்னவன் — ராஜாதி ராஜனாயும்; அவுணர்க்கு வாள் — அசுரர்களுக்குள் பிரசித்திபெற்ற; வேந்தன் — தலைவனாயும் இருந்த; வாணன் தன்னுடைய — பாணாசுரனின்; பாவை — மகளாய்; உலகத்துத் — எவ்வுலகத்திலும்; தன் ஒக்கும் — தனக்கு ஒப்பான அழகில் சிறந்த; கன்னியரை இல்லாத — பெண் இல்லை என்னும்படி; காட்சியாள் — அழகியான உஷை என்பவள்
sūzh kadalul̤ — in the expansive ocean; pon nagaram seṝa — one who destroyed the towns of hiraṇyāsura; purandharanŏdu ĕr okkum — it will parallel the greatness of dhĕvĕndhra (head of celestial entities); mannavan — being the king among kings; avuṇarkku vāl̤ vĕndhan — being a radiant leader among asuras [demonic entities]; vāṇan thannudaiya pāvai — as the daughter of bāṇāsura; ulagaththu than okkum kanniyarai illādha kātchiyāl̤ — ushai, who is so extremely beautiful, with none in the world equalling her in beauty

Simple Translation

2748. Her dear friend Chitralekha, grabbed Aniruddha, the son of lord Māyavan Kannan, who wears the thulasi garland on his lovely mountain-like arms. Then she brought Aniruddha to her so that he could be happy with her. O friends, haven’t you heard this story? (38 -39)

thannudaiya innuyir thŏzhiyāl — with the help of her dear friend, chithralĕkai; mannu maṇi varai thŏl̤ māyavan — one with amaśing activities, having divine shoulders adorned with divine thul̤asi garland and matching a mountain of gemstones
