பஞ்சவர் தூதன்

99 பஞ்சவர்தூதனாய்ப் பாரதம்கைசெய்து *
நஞ்சுமிழ்நாகம்கிடந்த நல்பொய்கைபுக்கு *
அஞ்சப்பணத்தின்மேல் பாய்ந்திட்டுஅருள்செய்த *
அஞ்சனவண்ணனே! அச்சோவச்சோ ஆயர்பெருமானே! அச்சோவச்சோ.

Simple Translation

99. O dear one, You went as a messenger for the Pāndavās and fought for them in the Bhārathā war, entered the pond where the snake Kālingan lived, danced on him, made him surrender and gave your grace You have the dark color of kohl, achoo, achoo. O dear child of the cowherds, come and embrace me, achoo, achoo.

பஞ்சவர் — பாண்டவர்கள் உடைய; தூதனாய் — தூதுவனாகச் சென்று; பாரதம் — பாரதப் போரில்; கைசெய்து — கை கொடுத்தவனும்; நஞ்சு உமிழ் — விஷத்தைக் கக்கும்; நாகம் கிடந்த — காளீய நாகம் இருந்த; நற் பொய்கை புக்கு — தடாகத்திற்குள் புகுந்து; அஞ்ச — அஞ்சும்படியாக; பணத்தின் — பாம்பின் மேல்; பாய்ந்திட்டு — பாய்ந்து அது சரணமடைய பின்பு அதற்கு அருள் செய்த; அஞ்சன வண்ணனே! — மைபோன்ற அழகனே!; அச்சோ! அச்சோ! — என்னை அணைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்; ஆயர் பெருமானே! — ஆயர்பாடி மக்களுக்குத் தலவனே!; அச்சோ! அச்சோ! — என்னை அணைத்துக் கொள்வானோ!

tūtaṉāy — You went as a messenger; pañcavar — for Pandavas; kaicĕytu — the One who gave a helping hand; pāratam — in the mahabaratha war; naṟ pŏykai pukku — You entered the pond where; nākam kiṭanta — serpent (Kaaliya) lived which; nañcu umiḻ — spitted poison; paṇattiṉ — to make the serpent; añca — fear You; pāyntiṭṭu — You jumped on it and blessed him to have him surrender; añcaṉa vaṇṇaṉe! — oh beautiful dark One!; acco! acco! — You embrance me; āyar pĕrumāṉe! — oh Leader of the cowherd tribe; acco! acco! — please embrace me!
