மகனை 'சிரீதரா!' என்றழை

382 அங்கொருகூறை அரைக்குடுப்பதனாசையால் *
மங்கியமானிடசாதியின் பேரிடும்ஆதர்காள்! *
செங்கணெடுமால் சிரீதரா! என்றுஅழைத்தக்கால் *
நங்கைகாள்! * நாரணன் தம்அன்னைநரகம்புகாள்.

382 aṅku ŏru kūṟai * araikku uṭuppataṉ ācaiyāl *
maṅkiya māṉiṭa cātiyiṉ * per iṭum ātarkāl̤! **

Simple Translation

382. O poor ones! You name your children the names of people even if they are not good, because you wish them to give you some clothes. If you call your children, “O lovely-eyed Nedumāl, O Sridhara, ” Nāranan will not send the mothers of your children to hell.

அங்கு ஒரு கூறை — அங்கு ஒரு வஸ்திரம்; அரைக்கு — இடுப்பில்; உடுப்பதன் — உடுக்க வேண்டும் என்ற; ஆசையால் — ஆசையால்; மங்கிய மானிட — அழியும் மனித; சாதியின் பேர் — ஜாதியின் பெயர்களை; இடும் ஆதர்காள்! — இடும் மூடர்களே!; செங்கண் — சிவப்புக் கண்ணழகு; நெடுமால்! — பெம்மான்; சிரீதரா! என்று — ஸ்ரீதரனே! என்று; அழைத்தக் கால் — அழைத்தீர்களாகில்; நங்கைகாள்! — நங்கைகாள்!; நாரணன் தம் — நாராயணனின் நாமத்தைப்பெற்ற; அன்னை — அப்பிள்ளையின் தாய்மார்கள்; நரகம் புகாள் — நரகத்தை அடைய மாட்டார்கள்
