மக்களுக்கு பகவானுடைய திருநாமங்களை இட்டழைக்குமாறு அறிவுரை கூறல் மகனுக்குக் கேசவன் என்றே பெயரிடுக

381 காசும்கறையுடைக்கூறைக்கும் அங்கோர்கற்றைக்கும்
ஆசையினால் * அங்கவத்தப்பேரிடும் ஆதர்காள் *
கேசவன்பேரிட்டு நீங்கள்தேனித்திருமினோ *
நாயகன் நாரணன் தம்அன்னைநரகம்புகாள். (2)

Simple Translation

381. O poor ones! You gave your children mean names of the rich because you wanted to get money, clothes with decorations and other things from them. If you give the name of Kesavan and live worshipping him, the god Nāranan will not send the mothers of your children to hell.

காசும் — காசுக்காகவும்; கறை உடை — கறை போடப்பட்ட; கூறைக்கும் — வஸ்திரத்துக்காகவும்; அங்கு ஓர் — அங்கு ஓர் நெல் கற்றைக்காகவும்; ஆசையினால் — ஆசை காரணமாக; அங்கு அவத்த — மிக தரக்குறைவான; பேர் இடும் — பெயர்களை இடும்; ஆதர்காள்! — மூடர்களே!; நாயகன் நாரணன் — எம்பெருமான் நாராயணன்; கேசவன் பேர் இட்டு — கேசவன் எனப் பேர் இட்டு; நீங்கள் தேனித்து — நீங்கள் இனித்து; இருமினோ — இருங்கள்; தம் அன்னை — அப்பிள்ளைகளின் தாய்மார்; நரகம் புகாள் — நரகம் செல்ல மாட்டார்கள்

ātarkāl̤! — o fools!; ācaiyiṉāl — due to desire; kācum — for money; kaṟai uṭai — for the dyed; kūṟaikkum — clothes; aṅku or — and for the rice field; per iṭum — people give names; aṅku avatta — that are very low in quality to their children; kecavaṉ per iṭṭu — instead name the child, Kesava; nāyakaṉ nāraṇaṉ — or Narayana; irumiṉo — and remain; nīṅkal̤ teṉittu — happy; tam aṉṉai — the mother of those children; narakam pukāl̤ — will not go to hell
