Simple Translation

3951. At the time the Advaita philosophy was spreading in all the eight directions surrounded with oceans and the darkness of poverty covered the world, if Rāmānujā had not removed the darkness with the light of his knowledge, no one would understand that the god who contains all life is Nāranan.

கடல் அளவு ஆய — கடலே எல்லையாக உள்ள; திசை எட்டினுள்ளும் — எட்டு திசைகளிலும்; கலி இருளே — கலிபுருஷனாகிற அந்தகாரமே; மிடை தரு காலத்து — நெருங்கிக் கிடந்த காலத்தில்; இராமாநுசன் — இராமாநுசன் அவதரித்து; நான்மறையின் — நான்கு வேதங்களின் அளவற்ற; மிக்க சுடர் ஒளியால் — சுடர் மிக்க ஒளியால்; அவ் இருளை — அக்கலியின் இருண்ட விளைவுகளை; துரந்திலனேல் — போக்கியிராவிட்டால்; உயிரை உடையவன் — அனைத்து உயிர்களுக்கும் தலைவன்; நாரணன் என்று — நாராயணனே என்ற; உற்று உணர்ந்தே — உண்மையை உணர்ந்து; அறிவார் இல்லை — அறிந்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள்

kadal al̤avāya — seas that surround all four sides; thisai ettinul̤l̤um — in all the directions; kali irul̤ĕ — thamas in the form of ignorance instigated by kali yugam; midai tharu kālaththu — and putting pressure on us; during such time,; iṛāmānusan — emperumānār,; thurandhilanĕl — had not driven away; avvirul̤ai — that thamas; sudar ol̤iyāl — using the unlimited brilliance of; mikka — the most distinguished authoritative reference; nān maṛaiyin — that is, the four vĕdhas,; aṛivār illai — there is no one who could know; uṝuṇarndhu — by inquiring well and; nāraṇan enṛu — understand that ḥe is the one denoted by the word nārāyaṇan,; uyirai udaiyavan — ḥe who is the lord of āthmā, since ḥe is the whole (prakāri), and everything other than ḥim being parts (prakāram).
