Kannan and the cowherd girls - (ஏர் மலர்)
கன்னியர் ஊடிக் கண்ணனை எள்குதல்
The Gopis were enchanted by Krishna's words. However, Krishna did not come as He had promised. Therefore, each of the Gopis, in their own way, expresses their frustration and disappointment with Krishna.
கோபியர் கண்ணனின் வார்த்தையில் மயங்கினர். சொல்லியபடி கண்ணன் வரவில்லை. எனவே கண்ணனை ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஒவ்வொரு வகையில் வெறுத்துக் கூறுகிறார்கள்.

- Verse 1:
698.“ O Vāsudevā, many of the cowherd women here whose hair is decorated with fragrant flowers don’t want to embrace your chest because you lied to them. Listening to your lies, I was standing on a sand dune on the banks of the Yamuna river, till dawn shaking in the cold that comes after a strong rain". - Verse 2:
699. “You saw a lovely girl with beautiful fish-like eyes churning yogurt in her home, close by and you entered her house stealthily and said, ‘I will also churn yogurt fast with you. ’ I truly know how you churned the yogurt, casting a secret glance, with your dangling hair decorated with flowers that swarm with bees, let loose, your bright face sweating and your red mouth quivering! - Verse 3:
700. “You cast glances at a girl with dark hair adorned with flowers, and gave your heart to another in the same place. you went to another and spoke about her. While you deceived another innocent girl with your enchanting words, you stood with another curly-haired young girl in embrace. But you are not true to any of them. O you who destroyed the asurās who came as maruda trees, as you grow, your mischief grows with you. ” - Verse 4:
704 Though Yashodā was ready to feed you with sweet mother's milk you crawled and toddled towards devil Putanā and sucked the poison from her breasts, making people call you weird and crazy. When I waited with immense love for you here, you spent a lovely time with the maid I had sent. Is that also one of your naughty deeds?” - Verse 5:
702. I saw you one dark night, on my street, holding a girl with a lightning -like thin waist and veiling your faces with golden silk clothes. I also watched you looking at another girl and gesturing towards her. Why have you come to me now, leaving that girl? Dear Nambi, you better go back to her. - Verse 6:
703. O Kannā with broad shoulders that fought with the wrestlers! Sinner as I am, you left me alone in the middle of the night, the moment I slept on my bed went away and spent a happy time the next day and the day after, with other girls. Why have you come to me now, leaving them? O dear one! go back to them. - Verse 7:
704. "O, You who rest on the snake-bed of hooded Adishesha! O You the perfect One! We are not our usual selves as before, nor like those with beautiful eyes darkened with kohl, whom you loved. Please stop your untimely visits to our abodes. We were bewitched by your beautiful clothes, divine face, fruit-like red lips and the music of your flute and the troubles we had for a day is enough. Stop uttering your deceptive words and please go away. - Verse 8:
705. You asked me to come here but you went away to be with another one hiding beneath the cover of the jasmine creepers. On seeing me, you mumbled and left the place. Though you pretended to be scared of me and ran away , holding your golden dress, the day you come here again, I will vent my anger. - Verse 9:
706. “Adorned with lovely, auspicious flower garlands on the chest, with peacock feathers in your hair, your ears are adorned with a bunch of flowers, and wearing beautiful, bright clothes , You played sweet music on the flute for the girls, with hair adorned with fragrant kongu flowers and flirted with them. Won't you come and play music on your flute one day to enthrall us?" - Verse 10:
707. Kulasekharan, the chief of Kolli and Madurai composed ten sweet Tamil pāsurams describing how the young cowherd girls fell in love with the beloved of beautiful goddess Lakshmi and how they expressed their friendly, loving fights with the lord. Those who recite with music these ten sweet Tamil pāsurams of Kulasekharan, will have no troubles in their lives.
