Goal vs. Means
Upēyam ('that which is to be attained') is the technical counterpart to upāyam (the means). The Śrī Vaiṣṇava tradition holds the upēyam to be Bhagavān Śrīman Nārāyaṇa Himself — specifically, eternal kaiṅkarya (loving service) at His lotus feet in Vaikuṇṭha.
Not Mere Release
An important nuance: the upēyam is not simply mukti (release from saṃsāra) in a negative sense, but the positive attainment of Bhagavān's company and service. The final state is prāpya in an intensely personal sense — eternal enjoyment of the Lord's divine qualities in the company of the liberated.
The Tripuṭī
The triad of upāya (means), upēya (goal), and prapanna/upāsaka (the aspirant) structures Sri Vaishnava practical theology. Works like Mumukṣuppadi elaborate each element of the Dvaya Mantra through this triad: the first clause expresses the upāya, the second the upēya.
