Daily Rhythm of Practice
Nityānuṣṭhānam ('eternal observance') is the full daily practice regimen. It encompasses morning ablutions and application of tirunāmam marks, recitation of the Tirumantram and Dvaya, sandhyāvandana, arcana, prabandha-anusandhānam, and midday and evening prayers — ideally structured around the five-time worship (pañca-kāla) ideal.
Scriptural Basis
The nityānuṣṭhānam draws on both Smṛti injunctions (Āpastamba, Baudhāyana) and Pañcarātra Āgama prescriptions. Vedānta Deśika's writings clarify what is essential versus supplementary within the daily regimen.
Minimum Essence
While the full regimen is demanding, the tradition recognizes varying capacity in sincere devotees. The minimum essential thread: Tirumantram, Dvaya, and prabandha-anusandhānam — enough to keep a Śrī Vaiṣṇava connected to the sampradāya across all circumstances of life.
