O Trivikrama! Are You Sleeping from Fatigue?

திரிவிக்கிரமா! களைப்பால் உறங்குகிறாயோ?

Simple Translation

3589. My Lord, how is it that You lovingly repose without turning, neither to this side nor that, in Kōḷūr and Puḷiṅkuṭi, where banners play on smart castles? Is it due to the fatigue caused during Your avatars, when You performed many feats to alleviate Your devotees' sufferings? Or is it the result of the long strides You took to span the immense world? Please disclose it to me.

Explanatory Notes

(i) Seeing the Āzhvār’s disquietitude over His lying alone on a tender leaf during the deluge, the Lord hastens to reveal unto him a different setting altogether, pertaining to His Iconic Form where He is attended upon by the votaries in their full complement. Detailed Explanation

In this fifth pāśuram, as Emperumān mercifully reveals His serene resting posture (śayana-tiru-k-kōlam) in the divya-dēśams of Thirukkōḷūr and Thiruppuḷinguḍi to assuage the Āzhvār's anxieties, a profound reversal occurs.
