Author of Rāmānuja Nūṟṟantādi
Tiruvaraṅgattamudanār ('The sweet one of Tiruvaraṅgam [Śrī Raṅgam]') was a disciple of Rāmānuja and the composer of the Rāmānuja Nūṟṟantādi — 108 Tamil antādi verses celebrating Rāmānuja's life, philosophy, and grace. This prabandham is among the most beloved texts in the Śrī Vaiṣṇava tradition, recited devotionally alongside the Divya Prabandham.
Rāmānuja Nūṟṟantādi
The Rāmānuja Nūṟṟantādi (108 verses in the antādi chain-verse form) is Tiruvaraṅgattamudanār's supreme contribution. Each verse ends with the first word of the next (antādi = 'end-to-beginning'), creating an unbroken chain of praise for Rāmānuja. The text is considered a primary source for understanding both Rāmānuja's personality and the theological system he established.
Personal Transformation
Tradition records that Tiruvaraṅgattamudanār was initially skeptical of Rāmānuja, but after an encounter with the Ācārya's grace, his entire perspective transformed. The Rāmānuja Nūṟṟantādi is not academic praise but the pouring out of a heart transformed by encounter with a realized teacher — making it a model for how the sampradāya transforms its members.
