உலகளந்தான் திருப்பெயர் நமோநாராயணம்

1539 விடந்தானுடையஅரவம்வெருவச் செருவில்முனநாள் * முன்
தடந்தாமரைநீர்ப்பொய்கைபுக்கு மிக்கதாடாளன் *
இடந்தான்வையம்கேழலாகி உலகைஈரடியால் *
நடந்தானுடையநாமம்சொல்லில் நமோநாராயணமே.

Simple Translation

1539. The lord of Naraiyur jumped into the lotus pond, fought with the snake Kālingan and danced on his head, took the form of a boar and split open the earth and measured the world and the sky with his two feet. Praise his name and say, “Namo Narāyanāya. ”

முனநாள் — முன்பொரு சமயம்; விடம் தாள் உடைய — விஷமுடைய; அரவம் — காளியநாகம்; வெருவ — அஞ்சும்படியாக; முன் — தன் தோழர்கள் எதிரே; தடம் தாமரை — பெரிய தாமரைகளையுடைய; நீர்ப் பொய்கை புக்கு — பொய்கையில் புகுந்து; செருவில் — அந்த நாகத்தோடு போர் செய்து; மிக்க — மேன்மைபெற்ற; தாள் ஆளன் — திருவடிகளையுடையவனும்; வையம் கேழல் ஆகி — வராஹமூர்த்தியாகி பூமியை; இடந்தான் — குத்தியெடுத்துக் கொண்டு வந்தவனும்; உலகை ஈர் — உலகை இரண்டு; அடியால் — அடிகளால் அளந்து; நடந்தான் உடைய — நடந்த பெருமானின்; நாமம் சொல்லில் — நாமங்களை சொல்வதால் அதுவே; நமோ — நமோ நாராயணா; நாராயணமே — என்னும் மந்திரமாகும்
