Yashoda calls the moon to come and play with Kannan - (தன்முகத்துச் சுட்டி)

Kannan grows and has started crawling. He comes out crawling in the open. White moon! He spots the Moon; He thinks that the Moon will come to play with him. But the Moon is speeding through the sky. Yashoda says to the Moon, “This is the Lord. If you ignore him, you cannot escape." Not only does she remind the Moon by these words but us as well.
கண்ணன் வளர்ந்து தவழ்கிறான். திறந்த வெளியில் வருகிறான். வெண்ணிலவு! சந்திரனைப் பார்க்கிறான்; தன்னோடு விளையாட வருவான் என்று நினைக்கிறான். ஆனால் சந்திரன் வான வீதியில் வேகமாகச் செல்லுகிறான். "இவனே பகவான். இவனை அலட்சியம் செய்தால் நீ தப்பமுடியாது" என்று யசோதை சந்திரனுக்குக் கூறி, நமக்கும் உணர்த்துகிறாள்.

- Verse 1:
54. Chutti, the ornament on his forehead swings around and the golden kingini bells on his feet ring loudly as he crawls and plays in the sand making himself dirty. O young beautiful moon! If you have eyes on your face, come here and see the mischievous play of my son Govindan. - Verse 2:
55. Oh lovely moon, my small dear child, sweet as nectar, calls you, his small hands pointing to you again and again. If you really want to play with the dark colored Kannan do not hide in the clouds. Beautiful moon, come running happily to play with him. - Verse 3:
56. Oh moon, though you are surrounded by a shining wheel of light and you spread light everywhere, whatever you do, you cannot match the beauty of my son’s face. O lovely moon, come quickly. My clever son, the lord of the Venkatam hills is calling you. Don’t make him point at you for long and hurt his hands. O lovely moon, come running happily to play with him. - Verse 4:
57. My son opens his flower-like eyes wide and calls you, pointing to you with his sweet fingers, as I hold him on my waist, O bright moon, if you know what is good for you, don’t play tricks. You aren’t someone who doesn’t know how precious a child is. Come and see him. - Verse 5:
58. From his beautiful mouth, with nectar dripping, he calls you aloud with his prattle. You keep moving when God Sridharan is calling you again and again. If you do not stop it means that your ears are shut and have no bore to listen. Tell me Oh! wonderful shining moon. - Verse 6:
59. He, who holds the club, the discus (chakra) and the conch in his strong hands, is about to rest and yawns. if he does not rest, the milk he has drunk will not get digested. O lovely moon, you are merely wandering in the sky. Run and come quickly to him. - Verse 7:
60. Don't ignore him thinking he is just a little boy. He slept on a banyan leaf in ancient time. If he gets angry, he will pounce on you and catch you. He is Thirumāl. Don't ever disrespect Him as a small boy. Oh! big round moon, come fast with joy. - Verse 8:
61. Don't mistake my young lion to be a small child. Go and ask king Mahābali about the words the small boy (Vāmanā) spoke to him. If you consider Him small, it is your mistake and you will need His help soon. O full moon, Nedumal calls you, come soon. - Verse 9:
63. Scooping butter from the pots with His little hands, he swallowed as much as He could. His stomach is full and big like a pot. (pot body; butter soul) He calls you aloud and if you don't come, He will throw the discus at you, without any doubt. Oh lovely moon! if you want to survive quickly come with joy. - Verse 10:
63. Vishnuchithan, the poet from flourishing Villiputhur composed these Tamil pāsurams that describe how Yashodā with large eyes decorated with kohl, called the moon to come and play with her son. The devotees who recite all these pāsurams, will have no trouble in their lives.
