on top of that mattress of thiruvananthāzhwān (ādhiṣĕshan) —

ridding herself of feminine qualities such as shyness, fear, timidity —

one we surrendered unto —

 ī surrendered at your divine feet. —

eating, sleeping, fearing, enjoying other pleasures are the four things they nullify —

ī do not know anything at all about that —

we do not consider that as having any clarity (it is not apt) —

we both [āzhvār and his heart] have that knowledge —

ī was playing with it! (during that time) —

 ī who am a lowly one like a dog, —

ī, the servitor, —

is always together with emperumān, without separating from him even for a moment —

one who revealed to me his having four-headed brahmā who has sarasvathi, the deity for tongue (knowledge) as his confidential consort, as prakāra —

in all the other places —

ŏh one who is flourishing in the sacred texts! —

lying still atop the bed of serpent which has five heads and mouths —

 ten pāsurams —

in the tongue —

His slender tongue —

the things that cannot be spoken with the tongue —
