(i) The highest love to God is love rendered with no personal end in view but culminating in benediction or glorification of God. Love, so disinterestedly rendered, is love of purity and virginity, which carries with it the highest reward, namely, possession of God Himself. In this third pāśuram of the chapter, Śrī Nammāzhvār extends a merciful and urgent call to all souls who possess even a trace of spiritual desire. He declares, "Oh you who are desirous! To have all your sorrows utterly eliminated, you must surrender yourselves as ananyaprayōjana—seeking no fruit other than eternal service (kaiṅkaryam)—unto the Supreme Lord, Emperumān."
