(i) Even now, the devout pilgrims visiting this centre besmear the temple walls with sweet-smelling sandal paste, echoing the sentiments of the Āzhvār as disclosed by this song.
(ii) Did not Śatrugna sprinkle ice-cold water all the way from Nandigrām to the Āśram of Sage Bharadvāja, to greet Śrī Rāma’s home-coming?
In this second pāsuram, as elucidated by the revered pūrvācāryas such as Nanjīyar, the Āzhvār expresses a profound and soul-stirring longing. Overwhelmed by devotion, he questions with earnest humility, "Will I ever be granted the supreme fortune of being able to sprinkle wondrously fragrant water, perform circumambulation (pradakṣiṇam), and worship with palms joined
