Those Who Recite These Verses Will Attain Great Eminence.

இவற்றைப் படித்தோர் பெருஞ்சிறப்புப் பெறுவர்

3331 நாமங்களாயிரமுடைய நம்பெருமானடிமேல் *
சேமங்கொள்தென்குருகூர்ச் சடகோபன்தெரிந்துரைத்த *
நாமங்களாயிரத்துள் இவைபத்தும்திருவல்லவாழ் *
சேமங்கொள்தென்னகர்மேல் செப்புவார்சிறந்தார் பிறந்தே. (2)

Simple Translation

3331. Those who can recite these ten songs, praising the glory of Tiruvallavāḻ, the beautiful walled city, out of the thousand composed by Caṭakōpaṉ of Teṉkurukūr, will gain fame and distinction, even if they are born in this land.

Explanatory Notes

Those that recite this decad will indeed gain fame and distinction, not attainable by other householders. They will not suffer from the disability the Āzhvār suffered and they can thus freely move round and visit the pilgrim centres. The thousand names (Sahasranāma), which actually connote not a mere thousand names but many more without number, depict the auspicious traits

In the final pāśuram of this chapter, Śrī Nammāzhvār reveals the glorious result (phalaśruti) that awaits those who master these sacred verses. The great pūrvācāryas explain that such individuals are rightly considered the most exalted among all beings, even while they remain situated in this material realm (saṃsāra).
