In this ninth pāśuram of the chapter, our blessed Āzhvār vehemently condemns those souls who are situated in kaivalya puruṣārtha niṣṭhā—that is, those who pursue the eternal, isolated enjoyment of their own self, tragically ignoring the infinitely superior bliss of service unto Sriman Nārāyaṇa.
