Pāyu nīr Araṅgam – Unlike a region that is elevated, necessitating the construction of a dam and compelling the water to ascend, Thiruvarangam (Srīraṅgam) is situated at a lower level, thereby allowing water to flow naturally. Water here serves as a metaphor representing all substances that purify and are clear. This temple is the repository for such substances.
