2479 செழுநீர்த்தடத்துக் கயல்மிளிர்ந்தாலொப்ப * சேயரிக்கண்
அழுநீர்துளும்ப அலமருகின்றன * வாழியரோ
முழுநீர்முகில்வண்ணன்கண்ணன் விண்ணாட்டவர்மூதுவராம்
தொழுநீரிணையடிக்கே * அன்புசூட்டியசூழ்குழற்கே.

Simple Translation

2479. Her friend says, “She loves the cloud-colored Kannan, the god of the gods in the sky. Her eyes are filled with tears, as if she were a fish frolicking in the water of a flourishing pond. May he prosper!”

முழு நீர் — நிறைந்த நீரையுடைய; முகில் வண்ணன் — காளமேகம் போன்ற நிறமுடைய; கண்ணன் — கண்ணனின்; மூதுவர் ஆம் — யாவர்க்கும் முற்பட்டவர்களான; விண் நாட்டவர் — நித்யஸூரிகள்; தொழு நீர் — வணங்கும்; இணை அடிக்கே — திருவடிகளுக்கே; அன்பு சூட்டிய — அன்பென்னும் மாலையை சூட்டி; சூழ் — சுருண்ட கூந்தலையுடைய; குழற்கே — பெண்ணான இவளுக்கு; செழு நீர் — அழகிய நீரையுடைய; தடத்து — தடாகத்தில்; கயல் மிளிர்ந்தால் ஒப்ப — கயல் மீன்கள் பிறள்வதுபோல்; சேயரிக் கண் சிவந்த — சிவந்த ரேகைகளையுடைய கண்கள்; அழு நீர் — நாயகனின் பிரிவால் புலம்பி அழுவதால்; துளும்ப — நீர் துளும்ப; அலமருகின்றன — மோதுகிற இந்த அன்பு நிலை; வாழியரோ! — என்றும் நிலைத்திருக்க வேண்டும்
