அடியேனை அழைத்து அடிமை கொள்

3213 கொண்டாட்டும்குலம்புனைவும் தமருற்றார் விழுநிதியும் *
வண்டார்பூங்குழலாளும் மனையொழிய உயிர்மாய்தல் *
கண்டாற்றேன்உலகியற்கை கடல்வண்ணா! அடியேனை *
பண்டேபோற்கருதாது உன்னடிக்கேகூய்ப்பணி கொள்ளே.

Simple Translation

My Lord of oceanic hue, do not think of this vassal as before. Lift me up so that I may serve right at Your feet. I can't endure the trends of the world anymore. People shoot up to name and fame overnight, these upstarts acquire home and hearth, the fair bride and all that. But leaving them all behind, life suddenly departs.
