(i) The Āzhvār deplores those who do not recognise the enormous good done to them by the Lord, by way of protecting them from the devilish. Failure on their part to gratefully acknowledge the Lord’s benefaction will only get them consigned to Saṃsāra, the breeding ground for sins and the resultant miseries and involvement in the dreadful cycle of birth and death.

In this second pāsuram of the chapter, our Āzhvār contemplates the supremely profound and natural compassion of Śrīman Nārāyaṇa. He declares that those who fail to be captivated by the grace of Śriyaḥpati—a grace so vast that He proactively eliminates the hurdles of even those saṃsārīs who are utterly oblivious to their own suffering—are destined to be reborn into
