896 குளித்துமூன் றனலையோம்பும் குறிகொளந்தணமைதன்னை *
ஒளித்திட்டேன், என்கணில்லை நின்கணும்பத்தனல்லேன் *
களிப்பதென்கொண்டு? நம்பீ! கடல்வண்ணா! கதறுகின்றேன் *
அளித்தெனக்கருள்செய்கண்டாய் அரங்கமாநகருளானே!

Simple Translation
896. I have not lived the life of an orthodox Vediyan bathing and making sacrifices with three fires. I do not understand myself and I am not a devotee in your eyes. What is there for me to be happy about? O Nambi colored blue like the ocean, I cry out for you. Show pity on me and give me your grace, lord of Srirangam!

kuzhiththu mūnṛu

āzhvār speaks to emperumān: "A person born as a brāhmaṇa is instructed by the śāstras to bathe thrice a day, worship three types of fires (agnis), and perform sandhyāvandanam." However, I have failed to carry out these prescribed duties since the day I was born, thus transgressing your commands.
