அரங்கனை எப்படி மறக்க முடியும்?

894 கங்கயிற்புனிதமாய காவிரிநடுவுபாட்டு *
பொங்கு நீர்பரந்துபாயும் பூம்பொழிலரங்கந்தன்னுள் *
எங்கள் மாலிறைவனீசன் கிடந்ததோர்கிடக்கைகண்டும் *
எங்ஙனம்மறந்துவாழ்கேன்? ஏழையேனேழையேனே.

pŏṅkunīr parantu pāyum * pūmpŏzhil araṅkan taṉṉul̤ **

Simple Translation

894. Srirangam is in the middle of the Kaveri river which is purer than the Ganges. and its water rises and spreads through blooming groves. Our dear Thirumāl, our Esan, rests there on the river. How can I live forgetting him after seeing him resting on the water of the Kaveri? I am to be pitied, I am to be pitied.

Gangaiyil puṇidhamāya – Kāviri, which surpasses Gangā in the sanctity of sanctifying others. Though it excels Gangā in terms of the beauty and sweetness of its waters, it also surpasses in the purifying quality of sanctifying others.
