மனமே! அகங்காரம் ஏன்? திருமாலை நினை

யாமார் வணக்கமார்? ஏபாவம்நன்னெஞ்சே! *
நாமாமிகவுடையோம்நாழ்.

Simple Translation

2594. Only the eight Vasus, eleven Rudras, twelve suns and two Ashvins may worship him. We are not worthy to worship him. O good heart, we have done much bad karmā.

இரு நால்வர் — எட்டு வசுக்கள்; ஈரைந்தின் மேல் ஒருவர் — பதினோரு ருத்திரர்கள்; எட்டோடு ஒரு நால்வர் — பன்னிரண்டு ஆதித்யர்கள்; ஓர் இருவர் அல்லால் — அஸ்வினி தேவர்கள் இருவர்; யாம் திருமாற்கு — மற்றும் நாம் எம்பெருமானை; ஆர் வணக்கம் — வணங்குவதற்கு; ஆர்? — ஏற்றவர்கள் தானோ?; ஏ பாவம்! — அந்தோ!; நல் நெஞ்சே! நாமா — நல்ல மனமே! நாமோவெனில்; மிக உடையோம் நாழ் — மிகவும் குற்றமுடையவர்கள் தானே

nal nenjĕ — ŏh mind which has goodness; iru nālvar — the eight vasus; īraindhin mĕl oruvar — the eleven rudhras; ettŏdu oru nālvar — the twelve ādhithyas; ŏriruvar — the two distinguished aṣvinī dhĕvathās; allāl — apart from these entities; thirumāṛku — to attain the consort of mahālakshmi; nām ār — in what classification do we belong?; vaṇakkam ār — to which type will the attainment that we [people with lowly power] make, belong?; ĕ pāvam — how are (our) sins?; nām — we; miga nāzh udaiyŏm — have lot of unnecessary desires; ā — a sound made in wonder [as in nāmā]
