Avathārikai (Introduction)
In this profoundly moving pāsuram, the Āzhvār, assuming the persona and unbearable grief of Emperor Daśaratha, voices a heart-rending lament. He mourns that Śrī Rāma, the very prince who with divine ease broke the celestial bow of Lord Śiva to win the hand of Sītāp pirāṭṭi, has now departed for the desolate wilderness. Despite this soul-shattering
