406 பெருவரங்களவைபற்றிப் பிழக்குடையஇராவணனை *
உருவரங்கப்பொருதழித்து இவ்வுலகினைக்கண்பெறுத்தானூர் *
குருவரும்பக்கோங்கலரக் குயில்கூவும்குளிர்பொழில்சூழ் *
திருவரங்கமென்பதுவே என்திருமால்சேர்விடமே.

406 pĕruvaraṅkal̤ avaipaṟṟip * pizhakku uṭaiya irāvaṇaṉai *
uru araṅkap pŏrutu azhittu * iv ulakiṉaik kaṇpĕṟuttāṉ ūr **

Simple Translation

406. This ( Srirangam) is the place where the lord, as Rāma slew the strong, proud Ravanā, the receiver of many boons and protected the world. Srirangam is surrounded by flourishing groves where cuckoo birds sing and kongu buds open and blossom.

குரவு அரும்ப — குரவ மரங்கள் அரும்பவும்; கோங்கு — கோங்கு மரங்கள்; அலர — மலர்ந்திடவும்; குயில் கூவும் — குயில்கள் கூவவும்; குளிர் பொழில் — குளிர்ந்த சோலைகள்; சூழ் — சூழந்த; திருவரங்கம் — திருவரங்கம்; என்பதுவே — என்னும் ஊர்தான்; என் திருமால் சேர்விடமே — எம்பெருமான் சேருமிடமாகும்; பெருவரங்கள் — பெருமை மிக்க வரங்களை; அவைபற்றி — பலமாகப் பற்றிக் கொண்டு; பிழக்கு உடைய — துன்புறுத்தும் குணத்தையுடைய; இராவணனை — இராவணனின்; உரு அரங்க — உடலானது சின்னாபின்னமாகும்படி; பொருது அழித்து — போர் செய்து அழித்து; இவ் உலகினை — இந்த உலகத்தை; கண்பெறுத்தான் ஊர் — காத்தருளினவன் இருக்கும் ஊர்

tiruvaraṅkam — Sri Rangam; ĕṉpatuve — is the town; cūḻ — surrounded by; kul̤ir pŏḻil — the cool gardens; kuyil kūvum — with cuckoos singing; kuravu arumpa — where the kurava trees shed their leaves; koṅku — and the kongu trees; alara — bloom; ĕṉ tirumāl cerviṭame — where the Lord dwells; kaṇpĕṟuttāṉ ūr — its the residing place of the Lord who saved; iv ulakiṉai — this world; pŏrutu aḻittu — by raging a war and; uru araṅka — decimated the body of; irāvaṇaṉai — Ravana; avaipaṟṟi — who had; pĕruvaraṅkal̤ — many great boons; piḻakku uṭaiya — and possessed the quality of causing distress
