வருணன் அளித்த கை வளையல்களும் சாதிப்பவளும்

Simple Translation

49. Varunan sent You a shining pearl necklace, precious quality coral and beautiful bangles made of conches, from the roaring ocean, thinking these would suit You. You wear a shining crown (Thālelo) You have handsome arms, sleep! (Thālelo)

varuṇaṉ viṭutantāṉ — Varuna sent; cantac carival̤aiyum — the beautiful armlets that were; mā takka ĕṉṟu — highly valued; cātip paval̤amum — the finest coral; ŏl̤i muttiṉ āramum — the exquisite pearl jewellry; otak kaṭaliṉ — formed in the undulating sea; muṭiyāy! — the one with the diadem; cotic cuṭar — radiant with light; kaṇṇaṉe tālelo! — o Kannan, close your eyes!; cuntarat tol̤aṉe! — the one with graceful shoulders!; tālelo! — close your eyes!

Detailed Explanation

avathārikai (Introduction)

This sacred pāśuram beautifully describes the devotional service, the kaiṅkaryam, rendered by Varuṇan, the celestial regent of the western direction and the sovereign lord of the boundless ocean. It is an offering of love from a devoted servant to the Supreme Master, Sriman Nārāyaṇa, in His enchanting form as Kṛṣṇa.
