Padaiyārum vāzh kaṇṇār – women whose eyes resemble a sharp spear, radiating a brilliant luminosity. The term padai signifies a sword; thus, it may be interpreted as women whose gaze is as piercing as a sword. The essence conveyed here is that these women, whose allure is such that others might covetously seek them, are themselves drawn to Thirumalai (the sacred hills).
