நாம் விரும்புவது திருவேங்கடமே

அறியாதிளங்கிரியென்றெண்ணி * - பிறியாது
பூங்கொடிக்கள்வைகும் பொருபுனல்குன்றென்றும் *
வேங்கடமே யாம்விரும்பும்வெற்பு.

2234. I would go and worship the lord in Thiruvenkatam hills where the blooming creepers think that the thick hair of women falling low on their backs are small hills and cling on to it to grow.

Avathārikai (Introduction)

The Āzhvār, with profound reverence, declares his supreme adoration for the sacred hill of Thiruvēṅgadamalai. It is here that Emperumān, the Supreme Lord Sriman Nārāyaṇa—whose very nature is to bestow His causeless and boundless grace, as He so famously did even upon the great emperor Mahābali—has chosen to take up His eternal residence.
