கடல்கிடந்த நியே என் தெய்வம்

846 அடக்கரும்புலன்கள்ஐந்தடக்கி ஆசையாமவை *
தொடக்கறுத்துவந்து நின்தொழிற்கணின்றஎன்னைநீ *
விடக்கருதிமெய்செயாது மிக்கொராசையாக்கிலும் *
கடற்கிடந்தநின்னலால் ஒர்கண்ணிலேன்எம்மண்ணலே.

Simple Translation

846. I have destroyed the desires that come from the evil senses cut off all the relations I had with others, and I have come to you to serve you. Even if you want me to have desires and enjoy the pleasures of the five senses, my only desire is to be with you. I have no eyes except you, O my king who rest on the ocean.

Detailed Explanation

Avathārikai (Introduction)

In the preceding pāśuram, having declared “empirāṉum nī irāmaṉē”, the Āzhvār established that Śrī Rāmapirāṉ—He who is utterly independent and fully capable of fulfilling the aspirations of all who seek Him—is Himself the supreme means (upāyam). Now, in this verse, the Āzhvār mercifully affirms his unshakable faith in that very means.
