எதிர்த்தோரை யெல்லாம் அழித்த மாயன்

779 படைத்தபாரிடந்தளந்து அதுண்டுமிழ்ந்து பௌவநீர் *
படைத்தடைத்ததிற்கிடந்து முன்கடைந்தபெற்றியோய்! *
மிடைத்தமாலிமாலிமான் விலங்குகாலனூர்புக *
படைக்கலம்விடுத்த பல்படைத்தடக்கைமாயனே!

Simple Translation

779. You, the Māyan carrying the discus in your strong hand created the earth, swallowed the earth and spat it out, and you created the oceans and slept on the milky ocean. When the Asuras Thirumāli and Sumali came to fight with you, you sent them to Yama’s world, O you who went as a dwarf and measured the world.

பெளவநீர் — அண்டங்களுக்குக் காரணமான; படைத்த — கடலை ஸ்ருஷ்டித்து; பார் — பூமியை வராஹமாய் நின்று; இடந்து — குத்தி எடுத்து; அளந்து — திருவிக்கிரமனாய் அளந்து; அது உண்டு — ப்ரளயகாலத்தில் வயிற்றில் வைத்து; உமிழ்ந்து — வெளிப்படுத்தியும்; பெளவநீர் படைத்து — கடலை அணைகட்டி; அடைத்து — தூர்த்து; அதிற்கிடந்து — முன்பொருகால் அக்கடலில் துயின்று; முன் கடைந்த — அமுதமெடுப்பதற்காக அதனைக் கடைந்த; பெற்றியோய் — அளவற்ற பெருமைகளையுடையவனே!; மிடைத்த மாலி — கோபித்த மாலி என்கிற ராக்ஷஸன்; விலங்கு — மிருகம் போன்ற; மாலிமான் — ஸுமாலி இவர்களை; காலன் ஊர் புக — யமலோகம் போய்ச் சேரும்படியாக; படைக்கலம் விடுத்த — ஆயுதங்களை ப்ரயோகித்த; பல் படை — பலவகைப்பட்ட ஆயுதங்களை; தடக்கை — கையிலேயுடைய; மாயனே! — பெருமானே! உன்னை அறிபவர் உளரோ!
