Praise the Lord Who is Knowledge, the Sun, and the Boar

ஞானமாகி ஞாயிறாகி ஏனமான பிரானை வாழ்த்து

865 ஈனமாயஎட்டும்நீக்கி ஏதமின்றிமீதுபோய் *
வானமாளவல்லையேல் வணங்கிவாழ்த்தென்நெஞ்சமே! *
ஞானமாகிஞாயிறாகி ஞாலமுற்றும், ஒரெயிற்று *

Simple Translation

865. O heart, if you want to remove the eight bad thoughts and live without fault and reach Mokshā and rule the world, you must think and worship the feet of the god, our father, who is wisdom, the sun, and the world, who took the form of a single-tusked boar and split open the earth.

Avathārikai (Introduction)

The Āzhvār’s own heart poses a profound question: "If the Supreme Lord, Sriman Nārāyaṇa, is Himself the ultimate means (upāya), what, then, is the role of the devoted soul?" The Āzhvār responds with sublime clarity in this pāsuram, instructing his heart to remain steadfast in the contemplation of the divine feet of Srī Varāhap Perumāl.
