கூரர்ந்தவாளால் கொடிமூக்கும்காதிரண்டும் *

Simple Translation

2689. 'With his sharp sword he cut off the nose and ears of Raksasi Surpanaha' who told Rāma that she was as beautiful as Sita. He fought with Karan, the brother of Surpanaha with his bow and made him suffer as if he was in hell. 17

தன் சீதைக்கு — தன் ஸீதைக்கு நான்; நேர் ஆவன் — ஸமானமானவளென்று நினைத்து; ஓர் நிசாசரி தான் — சூர்ப்பணகை என்னும்; வந்தாளை — ஓடிவந்த ராக்ஷஸியை; கூர் ஆர்ந்த வாளால் — கூர்மையான வாளால்; கொடி மூக்கும் — கொடிபோன்ற மூக்கையும்; காது இரண்டும் — இரண்டு காதுகளையும்; ஈரா விடுத்து — அறுத்துத் துரத்தினான்; அவட்கு மூத்தோனை — அவளுடைய தமையனான கரனை

than sīthaikku — for sīthā, his consort; nĕr āvan enṛu — one who said “ī am equal“; ŏr nisāsari vandhāl̤ai — one who came running, the demon sūrpaṇakā (asking ṣrī rāma to marry her); kūrārndha vāl̤āl — with a sharp sword; kodi mūkkum kādhu iraṇdām — nose which is like a creeper and the two ears; īrā viduththu — severed and drove [sūrpaṇakā]; avatku mūththŏnai — kara, her elder brother; vem naragam — for him to go now to another cruel narakam (hell)
