துன்னுவெயில்வறுத்த வெம்பரல்மேல் பஞ்சடியால் *
மன்னனிராமன்பின் வைதேவிஎன்றுரைக்கும் *
அன்னநடைய அணங்குநடந்திலளே? *

2741 kŏṭum katiroṉ
tuṉṉu vĕyil vaṟutta vĕm paralmel pañcu aṭiyāl *

Simple Translation

2741. Vaidehi, his beautiful wife, went with him, walking like a swan on her soft cotton-like feet on stone paths where the cruel sun’s strong heat burned the earth. (30)"

வெங்கானத்து ஊடு — கொடுமையான காட்டினுள்ளே; துன்னு வெயில் — கடும் வெப்பத்தால்; வறுத்த வெம் — வறுத்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட்; பரல்மேல் — கூழாங்கற்களின்மேல்; வைதேவி என்று — வைதேஹீ என்று; உரைக்கும் — சொல்லப்படும்; அன்ன — அன்னம் போன்ற; நடைய — நடையை உடையவள்; பஞ்சு — தன் பஞ்சு போன்ற; அடியால் — திருவடிகளால்; மன்னன் — மன்னன்; இராமன் பின் — இராமன் பின்; அணங்கு — தொடர்ந்து; நடந்திலளே? — நடக்கவில்லையோ?

kodu kadhirŏn thunnu veyil vaṛuththa vembaral mĕl — on top of the pebbles which have been roasted by the rays of the hot sun; vaidhĕvi enṛu uraikkum — one who is referred to as vaidhĕhi; annam nadaiya aṇangu — sithāppirātti who has the gait of a swan; mannan irāman pin — behind that mahāraja, ṣrī rāma; panju adiyāl — with soft, like cotton, divine feet; nadandhilal̤ĕ — did she too not go?
