சொன்னவர் கண்டதில்லை: கண்டவர் சொன்னதில்லை

2720 மன்னுமழல் நுகர்ந்தும் வண்தடத்தினுட் கிடந்தும் *
இன்னதோர் தன்மையராய் ஈங்குடலம்விட்டெழுந்து *
தொன்னெறிக்கண்சென்றா ரெனப்படுஞ்சொல்லல்லால் *
இன்னதோர்காலத்து இனையாரிது பெற்றார் *
என்னவுங் கேட்டறிவதில்லை * உளதென்னில்-

2720 maṉṉum azhal nukarntum vaṇ taṭattiṉul̤ kiṭantum *

Simple Translation

2720. and do tapas standing in the heat of the sun and plunging into the water in ponds. One can only say that these are the people who could reach Mokshā. This is what one knows. No one can tell others could reach Mokshā by any other way unless they see them there. (8)

மன்னும் அழல் நுகர்ந்தும் — வெய்யிலில் காய்ந்தும்; வண் தடத்தினுள் — குளிர்ந்த தடாகத்தில்; கிடந்தும் — மூழ்கியும்; இன்னது ஓர் — ஆக இவ்விதம்; தன்மையராய் — தவம் செய்பவர்கள்; ஈங்கு உடலம் — இவ்வுலகில் சரீரத்தை; விட்டு எழுந்து — விட்டு மேலே சென்று; தொல் நெறிக்கண் — திரும்பிவராத ஒரு இடத்தை; சென்றார் எனப்படும் — அடைந்தார் என்று; சொல் அல்லால் — சொல்வதைத்தவிர; இன்னது ஓர் காலத்து — இன்ன தினத்தில்; இனையார் இது பெற்றார் — இன்ன மநுஷ்யன் மோக்ஷத்தில்; என்னவும் கேட்டு — போய்ச் சேர்ந்தார்; அறிவது இல்லை — என்று சொல்லக் கேட்டதே யில்லை; உளது என்னில் — மோக்ஷம் உண்டு என்றால்

venjudarŏn — sun who has cruel rays; mannum azhal nugarndhum — eating (the sun’s) hot rays which are established firmly; vaṇ thadaththin utkidandhum — immersing in the bountiful ponds; innadhŏr thanmaiyar āy — thus, having such nature; īngu udalam vittezhundhu — leaving the physical body in this world and rising up; thol neṛikkaṇ senṛār enappadum sol allāl — other than saying that he reached an ancient place; innadhu ŏr kālaththu idhu peṝār — on a specific day, a particular person reached mŏksham (ṣrīvaikuṇtam); ennavum kĕttaṛivadhillai — has not been heard, as told by someone
