மன்மதன் துன்புறுத்துகிறானே!

2758 கல்நவில்தோள்காமன் கருப்புச்சிலைவளைய *
கொல்நவிலும்பூங்கணைகள் கோத்துப்பொதவணைந்து *
தன்னுடையதோள்கழியவாங்கி * - தமியேன்மேல்
என்னுடையநெஞ்சே இலக்காகவெய்கின்றான் *
பின்னிதனைக் காப்பீர்தாமில்லையே * -

2758 kal navil tol̤ kāmaṉ karuppuc cilai val̤aiya *

Simple Translation

2758. She says, “Kama has a sugarcane bow in his arms that are strong as stone. He bends it, flexing his arms, and shoots flower arrows at me with my chest as his target. There is no one to protect me from him. ” (48)

கல் நவில் — மலைபோல் திண்ணிய; தோள் — தோள்களையுடைய; காமன் கரும்பு — மன்மதன் தன் கரும்பு; சிலை வளைய — வில்லை வளைத்து; கொல் நவிலும் — கூரிய; பூங் கணைகள் — புஷ்ப பாணங்களைத் தொடுத்து; கோத்து பொத — அந்த வில்லை அழுந்த; அணைந்து — அணைத்துக்கொண்டு; தன்னுடைய தோள் — தன் தோள் வரையில்; கழிய வாங்கி — நீள இழுத்து; என்னுடைய நெஞ்சே — என்னுடைய நெஞ்சையே; இலக்காக — இலக்காகக் கொண்டு; தமியேன்மேல் — துணையற்ற என்மீது; எய்கின்றான் — பிரயோகிக்கிறான்; பின் — இப்போது இந்த; இதனை — ஆபத்திலிருந்து என்னை; காப்பீர் — காப்பாற்ற; தான் இல்லையே — ஒருவரும் இல்லையோ?

kal navil thŏl̤ kāman — manmadha (cupid) who has (firm) shoulders which are like mountain; karuppuch chilai val̤aiya — drawing (his) bow made of sugarcane; kol navilum pūngaṇaigal̤ kŏththu — (on that bow) stringing arrows made of flowers which are capable of killing; podhavaṇaindhu — standing close (to the target) so that the bows will pierce through well; thannudaiya thŏl̤ kazhiya vāngi — pulling (the string of the bow) to reach his shoulder; ennudaiya nenjĕ ilakkāga thamilyĕn mĕl eyginṛān — keeping my heart as the target he (cupid) is shooting those arrows on me, who is having none to support.; pin idhanai kāppīrdhān illaiyĕ — there is none who could now enable me to escape from this danger
