2617 யாதானுமொன்றறியில் தன்னுகக்கிலென்கொலோ? *
யாதானும்நேர்ந்தணுகாவாறுதான் * - யாதானும்
தேறுமாசெய்யா அசுரர்களை * நேமியால்
பாறுபாறாக்கினான்பால்.

2617 yātāṉum ŏṉṟu aṟiyil * taṉ ukakkil ĕṉ kŏlo *

Simple Translation

2617. The lord with a discus in his hand smashed the deadly Asurans to pieces. When we know him, we know it brings joy, but then why we are not approaching him, doing the good karmā that leads us to him?

யாதானும் — சிறிதளவேனும் இறைவனுக்கு; தேறுமா — உகப்பை ஏற்படுத்தும்; செய்யா — செயலைச்செய்யாத; அசுரர்களை — அசுரர்களை; நேமியால் — சக்ராயுதத்தால்; பாறு பாறு — துண்டு துண்டாக; ஆக்கினான் — ஆக்கின பெருமான்; பால் — விஷயத்தில்; யாதானும் — எதையாவது; நேர்ந்து — ஸமர்ப்பித்தாவது; அணுகா — அவனை அடையாமல்; ஆறு தான் என் கொலோ — இருக்கலாமோ?; தன் — நமக்கு ஞானமும்; உகக்கில் — ஆனந்த குணமும் இருந்தும்; யாதானும் ஒன்று — ஆத்ம ஸமர்ப்பணம் செய்ய; அறியில் — தெரியவில்லையே அந்தோ!

yādhānum — in any way; thĕṛumā seyya — not carrying out activities which generate confidence (in emperumān); asurargal̤ai — demons; nĕmiyāl — with chakrāyudha (divine disc); pāṛu pāṛu ākkinān pāl — towards emperumān who cut them to pieces; yādhānum nĕrndhu — by giving something (which does not belong to self); aṇugā āṛudhān en kolŏ — why is he not being attained?; than ugakkil (en kolŏ) — what if (the chĕthana) develops affection towards himself?
