2616 தமக்கடிமைவேண்டுவோர் தாமோதரனார்
தமக்கு * அடிமைசெய்யென்றால் செய்யாது * - எமக்கென்று
தாம்செய்யுந்தீவினைக்கே தாழ்வுறுவர் நெஞ்சினார் *
யாஞ்செய்வதிவ்விடத்திங்கியாது?

2616. Damodharan wishes me to serve him, but my heart would rather do evil deeds and live a wicked life. What can I do in this world to take away my karmā?

தமக்கு அடிமை — தாம் அடிமையாயிருக்க; வேண்டுவார் — ஆசைப்படும்; தாமோதரனார் — தாம்பால் ஆப்புண்ட; தமக்கு — பெருமானுக்கு; அடிமை செய் — அடிமை செய்; என்றால் — என்று சொன்னால்; நெஞ்சினார் — என் நெஞ்சானது; செய்யாது — செய்யாமல்; எமக்கு — என் சொல் கேளாமல்; என்று — சுதந்திரமாக திரியும்படி; தாம் செய்யும் — தாம் செய்யும்; தீவினைக்கே — தப்புக் காரியத்திலேயே; தாழ்வுறுவர் — ஈடுபட்டிருக்கிறது; இவ்விடத்து இங்கு — இப்படிப்பட்ட நிலையில்; யான் செய்வது யாது? — நான் செய்யத்தக்கது யாது?

adimai — being servile (towards those who are involved with him); thamakku vĕṇduvār — one who desires it for himself; dhāmŏdharanār thamakku — for dhāmôdhara (who had a scar to display to others, when he was tied down by yaṣŏdhā); adimai sey enṛāl — if told to carry out service; seyyādhu — not doing it; nenjinār — my mind, the elderly person [āzhvār says this with derision]; emakku enṛu — with stubbornness saying ‘ī will do what ī like’; thām seyyum — what it does often; thīvinaikkĕ — the activity of going away [from emperumān]; thāzhvuṛuvar — will be interested in; ivvidaththu — when things are like this; ingu — in this world; yām seyvadhu yādhu — what is there for us to do?
