அலைகடல் போன்றவரை நான் கண்டேன்

1122 கலைகளும்வேதமும்நீதிநூலும்
கற்பமும்சொற்பொருள்தானும் * மற்றை
நிலைகளும் வானவர்க்கும் பிறர்க்கும்
நீர்மையினால்அருள்செய்து * நீண்ட
மலைகளும்மாமணியும் மலர்மேல்
மங்கையும்சங்கமும் தங்குகின்ற *
அலைகடல்போன்றுஇவரார்கொல்? என்ன
அட்டபுயகரத்தேனென்றாரே.

kaṟpamum cŏl pŏrul̤-tāṉum * maṟṟai
nilaikal̤um vāṉavarkkum piṟarkkum *
nīrmaiyiṉāl arul̤cĕytu ** nīṇṭa
malaikal̤um mā maṇiyum * malarmel
maṅkaiyum caṅkamum taṅkukiṉṟa *
alai kaṭal poṉṟivar ārkŏl? ĕṉṉa- *

Simple Translation

1122. He is the master of Vedas, Upanishads, Itihasas, Puranas, the Kalpa Sutras, the vyakaranam and the Mimamsa texts. He holds the abodes meant for those who follow these truths. By His grace, He bestows blessings on the Devas and all living beings on earth. His broad shoulders rise like mighty Meru mountains, adorned with the radiant Kaustubha gem. beside the lotus-born goddess Mahalakshmi, He holds the conch Panchajanya, ever present and shining, like the ocean waves in endless motion. When asked, “Who is He?” He said, “I am Attabhuyakarathan — I have come for you.”

கலைகளும் வேதமும் — வேதமும் உபநிஷதங்களும்; நீதி நூலும் — இதிகாசங்களும் புராணங்களும்; கற்பமும் சொல் — கல்ப சூத்திரமும் வியாகரணமும்; பொருள் தானும் — மீமாம்சையும்; மற்றை — மற்றும்; நிலைகளும் — அவரவர்க்கு உரிய ஸ்தானங்களையும்; நீர்மையினால் — கிருபையினால்; வானவர்க்கும் — தேவர்களுக்கும்; பிறர்க்கும் — மனிதர்களுக்கும்; அருள் செய்து — அளித்தவரும்; நீண்ட மலைகளும் — பெரிய மலை போன்ற தோள்களும்; மா மணியும் — சிறந்த கௌஸ்துபமணியும்; மலர் மேல் — தாமரையில் பிறந்த; மங்கையும் — மஹாலக்ஷ்மியும்; சங்கமும் தங்குகின்ற — சங்கும் இருக்கும்; அலை கடல் போன்று — அலை கடல் போன்றவருமான; இவர் ஆர்கொல்?என்ன — இவர் யார்? என்று நான் கேட்க அவர்; அட்டபுயகரத்தேன் — நான் அட்டபுயகரத்தான்; என்றாரே — உனக்காக வந்தேன் என்றாரே

kalaigal̤um — the second half of vĕdham (i.e. vĕdhāntham) and brahma sūthram; vĕdhamum — the first half of vĕdham; nīdhi nūlum — ithihāsam etc; kaṛpamum — kalpa sūthram; sollum — vyākaraṇam (grammar); porul̤um — mīmāsā; maṝai — further; nilaigal̤um — the abodes (which are attained by those who follow these ṣāsthrams); nīrmaiyināl — by the quality of being a lord; vānavarkkum — for the dhĕvathās; piṛarkkum — for the humans; arul̤ seydhu — bestowed; nīṇda malaigal̤um — divine shoulders which resemble huge mĕru mountain; māmaṇiyum — ṣrī kausthuba jewel; malar mĕl mangaiyum — periya pirāttiyār who has lotus flower as her birth place; sangamum — ṣrī pānchajanyam; thanguginṛa — eternally and firmly present; alai kadal pŏnṛa — like an ocean with rising tides; ivar ār kol? enna — when asked “Who is he?”; attabuyagaraththĕn — ī am the lord of thiruvattabuyagaram; enṛār — mercifully said
