294 கைத்தலத்துள்ளமாடழியக் கண்ணாலங்கள்செய்து * இவளை
வைத்துவைத்துக்கொண்டு என்னவாணிபம்? நம்மை வடுப்படுத்தும் *
செய்த்தலையெழுநாற்றுப்போல் அவன்செய்வனசெய்துகொள்ள *
மைத்தடமுகில்வண்ணன்பக்கல் வளரவிடுமின்களே.

294 kaittalattu ul̤l̤a māṭu azhiyak * kaṇṇālaṅkal̤ cĕytu * ival̤ai-
vaittu vaittukkŏṇṭu ĕṉṉa vāṇipam? * nammai vaṭuppaṭuttum **

Simple Translation

294. What is the use if I save abundant wealth and wish to spend it on her marriage? It only hurts me. She is like a tender shoot that grows on a field Like the owner of that land, He can do whatever he wants with her. Take her to the place of the beautiful one who has the color of the dark cloud and leave her there.

கைத்தலத்து உள்ள — கையிலுள்ள; மாடு அழிய — செல்வம் அழியும்படி; கண்ணாலங்கள் செய்து — கல்யாணம் செய்து; இவளை வைத்து — சொல்பேச்சைக் கேட்காத இவளை; வைத்துக் கொண்டு — இவளுக்கு காவலிட்டு வைத்தும்; என்ன வாணிபம்? — என்ன பயன்?; நம்மை — நம் குடிக்கு; வடுப்படுத்தும் — பழி உண்டாக்கும் இவள்; செய்த்தலை எழு — கழனியிலே வளருகிற; நாற்றுப் போல் — நாற்றை போல; அவன் செய்வன — அவன் செய்வதை; செய்து கொள்ள — தனக்கு வேண்டியபடி செய்து கொள்ள; மைத் தடமுகில் — கருத்த பருத்த மேகம் போன்ற; வண்ணன் பக்கல் — நிறமுடைய கண்ணனிடமே; வளர விடுமின்களே — வளரும்படி சேர்த்து விடுங்கள்
