323 cittirakūṭattu iruppac * ciṟukākkai mulai tīṇṭa *
attirame kŏṇṭu ĕṟiya * aṉaittu ulakum tirintu oṭi **
vittakaṉe irāmāvo * niṉ apayam ĕṉṟu azhaippa *
attirame ataṉkaṇṇai * aṟuttatum or aṭaiyāl̤am (6)
Simple Translation
323. “When you were in Chitrakoodam,
a small crow came and pricked your breast.
Rāma shot an arrow at the crow in fury and the frightened
crow flew all over the world. Unable to get help, he fell at
your feet, saying ‘O Rāma, clever one, you are my refuge. ’
The Brahmāstra blinded its one eye.
This is a proof that I am Rāma's messenger.
