204 திருவுடைப்பிள்ளைதான்தீயவாறு
தேக்கமொன்றுமிலன்தேசுடையன் *
உருகவைத்தகுடத்தொடுவெண்ணெய்
உறிஞ்சியுடைத்திட்டுப்போந்துநின்றான் *
அருகிருந்தார்தம்மைஅநியாயம்செய்வது
தான் வழக்கோ? அசோதாய்! *
வருகவென்றுஉன்மகன்தன்னைக்கூவாய்
வாழவொட்டான்மதுசூதனனே.

Simple Translation

204. The cowherd women complain to Yashodā thus: "Your wonderful son doesn’t hesitate to do mischief. He is bright and has a divine glow. He swallowed all the melted ghee in our pots and broke them and now he stands here as if he has done nothing wrong. Is it right to do bad things like this to your neighbors? Yashodā, call him to come to you. Madhusudanan doesn’t allow us to live!"

அசோதாய்! — யசோதையே!; திரு உடைப் பிள்ளைதான் — உன் அருமை மகன் கண்ணன்; தீயவாறு — விஷமம் செய்வதில் சிறிதும்; தேக்கம் ஒன்றும் இலன் — தவறுவதேயில்லை; தேசு உடையன் — தேஜஸ் நிறைந்தவன்; உருக வைத்த — உருக்குவதற்காக அடுப்பில் வைத்திருந்த; குடத்தொடு — தாழியோடு மொத்த; வெண்ணெய் — வெண்ணெயையும்; உறிஞ்சி — சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டு; உடைத்திட்டு — தாழியையும் உடைத்துவிட்டு; போந்து — ஒன்றும் அறியாதவன் போல்; நின்றான் — வந்து நின்றான்; அருகு இருந்தார் — அக்கம் பக்கம் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு; தம்மை அநியாயம் — இப்படி தொந்திரவு; செய்வதுதான் வழக்கோ? — கொடுப்பது நியாயம்தானோ?; உன் மகன் தன்னை — உன் பிள்ளையை உன் அருகிலேயே; வருக என்று கூவாய் — அழைத்து வைத்துக்கொள்; வாழ ஒட்டான் — இல்லாவிட்டால் எங்களை வாழவிட மாட்டான்; மதுசூதனனே — இந்த மதுசூதனன்!

acotāy! — oh Yashoda!; tiru uṭaip pil̤l̤aitāṉ — Your wonderful Son; tekkam ŏṉṟum ilaṉ — doesn’t hesitate; tīyavāṟu — to do mischiefs; tecu uṭaiyaṉ — He is full of divine glow; uṟiñci — He ate; vĕṇṇĕy — all the butter; kuṭattŏṭu — kept in a pot; uruka vaitta — and placed on a stove to melt it; uṭaittiṭṭu — and then broke the pot; niṉṟāṉ — and stood; pontu — as though he was innocent; cĕyvatutāṉ vaḻakko? — is it right; tammai aniyāyam — to trouble; aruku iruntār — your neighbours like this; varuka ĕṉṟu kūvāy — please keep; uṉ makaṉ taṉṉai — your Child close to you; vāḻa ŏṭṭāṉ — otherwise, he wont let us live; matucūtaṉaṉe — this Madhusudanan!
