நந்தன் மதலையின் உந்தி

30 வந்தமதலைக்குழாத்தை வலிசெய்து *
தந்தக்களிறுபோல் தானேவிளையாடும் *
நந்தன்மதலைக்கு நன்றுமழகிய *
உந்திஇருந்தவாகாணீரே ஒளியிழையீர்! வந்துகாணீரே.

Simple Translation

30. He (Kannan) towers above the children who play, like a strong baby elephant, He leads! He is the cowherd chief Nandan’s son. Behold O girls, adorned with shining ornament, come and see his lovely navel.

வந்த — தன்னோடு விளையாட வந்த; மதலைக் குழாத்தை — சிறுபிள்ளைகளின் கூட்டத்தை; வலிசெய்து — தன் திறமையைக்காட்டி; தந்தக் — கொம்பு முளைத்த; களிறு போல் — யானைக்குட்டிபோல்; தானே விளையாடும் — தானே தலைவனாய் நிற்கிற; நந்தன் மதலைக்கு — நந்தகோபன் குமாரனான கண்ணனின்; நன்றும் அழகிய — மிகவும் அழகியதான; உந்தி இருந்தவா காணீரே — திரு நாபியைப் பாரீர்; ஒளியிழையீர்! — ஒளிரும் ஆபரணமணிந்த பெண்களே!; வந்து காணீரே! — வந்து பாரீர்!

ŏl̤iyiḻaiyīr! — oh, women adorned with shining ornaments!; unti iruntavā kāṇīre — look at the holy navel of; nantaṉ matalaikku — Kannan, the son of Nandagopan; naṉṟum aḻakiya — that is exceedingly beautiful; kal̤iṟu pol — He was like a baby elephant; tantak — with grown tusk; tāṉe vil̤aiyāṭum — standing like a leader; valicĕytu — shown His skills; matalaik kuḻāttai — among the group of small children; vanta — who came to play with Him; vantu kāṇīre! — come and see!
